Student Ambassador Scholarship

For many years students from Delaware have traveled abroad on visits arranged by the People to People Student Ambassador National Office. Each fall a representative from the National Office speaks to Delaware students to introduce the idea of travel with People to People International. These assemblies took place in the Wilmington and Dover areas during the fall of 2011. Subsequent individual interviews with local delegate leaders who will travel with the students are also complete. These orientation meetings are to acquaint the students with the geography, history, government, and culture of the places they will visit. This also helps them develop civic awareness, citizenship, and other skills to prepare them to become proud Student Ambassadors.
For travel in 2012, Delaware students will be traveling to the following geographical locations:
- Grade School Students: Western Canada
- Middle School Students: (1) Italy, Sicily and Greece; (2) China
- High School Students: (1) Italy, Sicily and Greece; (2) China
For many years the Delaware Chapter has awarded a scholarship to a Delaware High School student to partly pay for the travel cost. This year we continued this awarded of $2,000 to one student, Miss Erin Miller a 9th grade student at Cab Calloway High School in Wilmington. Miss Miller was chosen from the five students who applied for this scholarship for many reasons – her numerous volunteer activities, her high scholastic standing, financial need, and her extensive interest in international topics.
We wish all students a mind inspiring visit to these interesting international countries.
