February 2010
Dear
Members and Site visitors,
Welcome to the Delaware Chapter PTP
website. As you browse through the
various pages, you will learn about
upcoming events as well as our
recent programs. You also will find
information about other local events
with an international focus. Please
check back often, as new information
will be posted as it becomes
available.
As I write this, the people of Haiti
are confronting a tragedy of
historic proportions. Our thoughts
are with the earthquake victims: the
people who lost their lives, the
injured, and the homeless. People to
People International, headquartered
in Kansas City, MO, has expressed
concern for the Haitian situation.
You can read PTPI’s message by

We applaud all of the many ways
that you choose to show support to
the Haitian people regardless of the
channel that you take.
Now that the holidays are behind us,
we are deep into planning a variety
of programs. Evening programs will
focus on US Foreign Policy in South
Africa and Haiti’s efforts to
recover from the earthquake. Our
Third Annual Multicultural Event is
being finalized and should bring a
very interesting array of cultural
traditions to our community. We also
are working closely with the
Delaware Photographic Society to
bring fascinating views of people
from around the globe to Delaware.
The Board has selected the People
Helping People Award recipient for
2010 and will introduce that person
at our annual membership meeting in
June. Look for more details as they
develop.
For new and returning visitors who
are not yet PTPI members, I ask that
you seriously consider joining our
local Delaware Chapter. It is with
your financial support and your
volunteer skills and efforts that we
can continue to produce high quality
programs and introduce international
ideas and cultures to all age groups
in our community, usually on a
no-fee basis. The membership dues
are very nominal, but this source of
revenue is critical to our success.
Membership is on a calendar year
basis. Please click

us!!
As mentioned in the previous website
welcome message, Delaware Today’s
January issue did indeed carry
several photos from the Chapter’s 25th
Anniversary Gala focusing on Power
Up Gambia. It was a wonderful
evening, and we were pleased with
the community support for PUG.

and thanks from the Gambian
Ambassador, that evening’s keynote
speaker.
I hope that you enjoy your visit to
our website. Please contact us at
any time at
ptpde@ptpde.org.
Please come back again, and we hope
to see you at our programs.
Regards,
Edward Tucker
PTPDE President
